Phosphorous is an element essential to the growth and development of organisms and it is found in the ecology of the Caribbean sea. The phosphorus cycle has two terms to it, the short-term and the long-term. In the short-term, phosphorus in phosphates in solution, and is cycled from the soil to the producers and then from the producers to the consumers. Then, in the long-term, weathering or erosion occurs on rocks which contain phosphorous and with this adds phosphorous to the cycle.
